George KEMP was born in Hockwold, could be Thetford Q3-1898 4B:355 or ( Geo Ed)...Thetford Q4-1898 4B:346.... son of Robert William and Ellen KEMP (née LEONARD)
1901 census... Aged 2, living at Hockwold Street with his father Robert W KEMP [39] an agricultural labourer born Hockwold; mother Ellen [35] born Eriswell; sister Louise E [13], brother Charles W[11] and John W [9]; sisters Elizabeth [6] and Violet [4]. All the children were born in Hockwold. 1911 census... Aged 12, a farm help, George was still at home in Hockwold with his parents and sister Violet. No record of any child dying. Prior to enlisting, George was residing in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, where he is also commemorated on the War Memorial. The pension card has father just as at Hockwold in 1919, and later adds mother at Mr Caudwells Farm, Spalding Marsh |

His military records do not appear to have survived and Soldier Died and his medal index card simply state died. This usually means of illness. Illness or wounds,
there is no way at present of establishing where and how George died. His was the only death in his battalion that day.
